I am a co-founder of http://www.undertheshadetree.com/. At Under The Shadetree we encourage submissions so writers, artist and musicians can share news, music, thoughts, and artwork with each other.
With free membership, the Roots feature encourages readers to respond to the news, music, artwork and writings we review, enter discussions, and interact with others in the Under The Shadetree community. Under The Shadetree sparks discussions on how current events, politics, music, advances in technology and social realities affect us as people. Interviews of writers, artists as well as submissions by guest columnist give us diverse perspectives on the future.
The 411
The Shadetree concept was founded in he hearts of five young college students ten years ago. The original newsletter/magazine itself was launched in the second month of the nineteen hundred and ninety sixth year on the campus of Dillard University in New Orleans, LA, in hope of informing and educating its readers. Shadetree, which was originally comprised of uncensored articles and colloquialisms called “roots” because the they ran deep in the hearts of readers like those of a Shadetree. Shadetree symbolize the muffled cries for education, enlightenment and motivation to succeed in us all.
The Shadetree Staff does not wish to simply rest on its roots. We are constantly submerged in a process of growth, from roots to branches that will extend into the community. Still in mid- development, we are also devoted to self-improvement, in hope of better serving our mission. So while reading Under The Shadetree, open your eyes and minds, for it is only the beginning of your tree.
